But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
In the KJV, it reads:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
As you help your kids sew make the fruit of the Spirit felt fruit, discuss what God’s Word says about how the Holy Spirit grows his fruit in the lives of Christians.
Talk about:
- Discuss the name of each fruit and talk about what it means to show that fruit in your life.
- Discuss the difference between the KJV titles for each fruit and their more modern names, as seen in the ESV. (It’s important that kids know what each name means.)
- Tell a story about how you have seen God develop one of these fruit in your life.
God the Holy Spirit develops the fruit of the Spirit in our lives as we abide in Jesus, the Vine. Read John 15:1-17 together.

Fruit of the Spirit for Kids
How can you use these fun little fruit?
- Have kids put on name of the fruit of the Spirit on each felt fruit. They can backstitch the name before stuffing the fruit, or write it with a fine-tip permanent marker.
- Put the fruit in a little basket on their dresser.
- Use the fruit as a fun, tactile way to remember the names of the fruit of the Spirit as you memorize Galatians 5:22-23 as a family.
Making God’s Word tangible to kids is a great way to help them learn!

The Fruit of the Spirit Craft Printable
The Fruit of the Spirit Felt Craft Printable, with step-by-step instructions, is available in the Thinking Kids Press store.
Supplies Needed to Make Your Fruit of the Spirit Kids Craft
- Templates
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Fabric Marker
- Felt
- Cotton Stuffing
- Embroidery Needle
- Embroidery Thread
- Black Fabric Marker (to write fruit names on back)
Make your Fruit of the Spirit Felt Craft
1) Print and Cut Out the Template Pieces and Cut Out Each Felt Piece.
For the mango, use orange, yellow, brown and green felt pieces.
Trace the paper template pieces onto the corresponding felt pieces. Cut out each felt piece.
2) Sew Decorations onto the Mango.
On the other felt mango piece, sew the stem and leaf as shown.
Place the mango piece with spot facing up on top of the mango piece with the leaf and stem. Part of the leaf and stem will be inside the mango.
3) Stuff and Sew the Mango.
Keep a small open end to add stuffing to your mango.
Finish sewing the mango closed.
4) Sew the Rest of Your Fruit of the Spirit Felt Pieces Together
You’ll find all the templates and further instructions in the printable!
Write the name of one fruit of the Spirit on the back of each felt fruit piece using your permanent fabric marker.
You did it! Put your fruit in a little basket and talk about each fruit of the Spirit on a regular basis.
