The monster in the closet is a childhood fear we joke about. But lions? Well, lions will eat you. Especially hungry lions in a pit. That is, lions will eat you–unless their Creator closes their mouths.
Daniel chapter 6 tells the story of a man who was faithful to God even at great risk. It also tells the story of how our great God saved Daniel, his faithful prophet. Your kids can make these cute lion bookmarks to remember that our God delivers and rescues us.
And, they can use their new bookmarks to mark their places in their Bible Investigators: Creation book. It’s a fun, puzzle-based Bible study that will help them learn more about our great Creator God!
Daniel and the Lion’s Den Craft
Before beginning your bookmark craft, read Daniel chapter 6.
Consider memorizing Daniel 6:26b-27 together. In the ESV, it says:
…for he is the living God,
enduring forever;
his kingdom shall never be destroyed,
and his dominion shall be to the end.
He delivers and rescues;
he works signs and wonders
in heaven and on earth,
he who has saved Daniel
from the power of the lions.
Talk about:
- Did Daniel have reason to be afraid of the king’s ordinance and of his officials?
- Look up Matthew 10:28. Who should we really honor and respect: God or man?
- Who did Daniel honor and respect? Another way to say that is, who did Daniel fear?
- Who created the lions?
- How did God care for Daniel?
Use your bookmark craft to remember that our powerful God delivers and rescues!
Your 8-12 year olds will love this puzzle-based Bible study on the doctrine of Creation!
