A unit study covers a theme or topic, usually with several resources and activities. My kids loved unit studies. Who wouldn’t want to read books about castles, then build one out of styrofoam blocks?
Creation in the Bible
There are a lot of ways to cover Creation in the Bible:
- In Bible Road Trip™, Creation is covered as children read through Genesis to Revelation. After all, the event itself is described in Scripture, and then referenced repeatedly. Our God is the Creator God.
- Some apologetics curricula covers Creation as an event that must be proved, or verified as something that occurred in a certain way.
- And, there is some really great science curriculum available which acknowledges God as the Creator while it guides kids through the scientific side of God’s work in our world.
This Creation unit study is all about the doctrine of Creation. Your kids will cover the Creation event–and learn how it is referenced in Scripture. They will learn what the Bible says about logic and science. They’ll learn more, too. Your kids will learn about who God is, about his good Creation gifts to his people, and about his special care in forming them. Kids will learn, too, about our need for a Savior–and about God’s plan for salvation right from the beginning of time.
The spine text for this biblical homeschool unit study, Bible Investigators: Creation, is a puzzle-based Bible study for 8-12 year olds that just may be the perfect resources for your students. Take a look at this fun exploration of God’s Word.
A Homeschool Unit Study on Creation
When our kids truly understand what God’s Word says about Creation, they’ll know:
- That God created all things out of nothing. God existed before anything else.
- The biblical (historical) story of God’s Creation event.
- That God made them just as he intended to. And, he made them for his glory.
- All about our Creator God. Our Triune God is eternal, all-powerful, and uncreated.
- About God’s good Creation gifts–his ordinances.
- God’s great plan for salvation.
Bible Investigators: Creation is divided into six units (or sections), with a total of 30 puzzle-based Bible lessons–each covering an important truth in Scripture.
Each of the 30 lessons has 3 puzzles or activities to help your children absorb the lesson, along with instruction, notebooking, and questions to consider.
How long should you spend on this Creation unit study?
- If your children work through one lesson from Bible Investigators: Creation daily, and your family does the crafts and activities for each unit weekly, you could complete your unit study in 6 weeks.
- I recommend using the study to cover a semester (two Creation lessons per week), or a year (one Creation lesson per week). That way, your children will be able to take their time and really enjoy the notebooking and activities in their Bible Investigators: Creation puzzle-based Bible study. And, they’ll have plenty of time for the additional crafts and activities.
Every child is sure to find activities they’ll love!

Bible Investigators: Creation includes puzzles, activities, creative prompts and personal application questions, and even the journaling boxes for to express what they’ve learned in writing and in drawing–a teaching technique we refer to as written narration. The book also contains engaging narrative, and is packed with the kind of facts that 8-12 year olds love to soak up! Kids who work through Bible Investigators: Creation will learn the doctrine of Creation, and the inductive Bible study method.
