One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions has always been to share with family what I am most thankful for, and hearing what they are thankful for, as well.
When my kids were younger, I loved working on crafts with them before Thanksgiving that would help them think about what they could praise God for.
This fun Thanksgiving gratitude craft celebrates fall and offers praise to God. Your kids can each make their own garland, or you can make one as a family.

Thanksgiving Gratitude Craft
Hebrews 13:15 (ESV) says:
Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
Before you begin this craft, read this with your kids and discuss:
- What does it mean to give a sacrifice of praise to God?
- How often should we praise God?
- What are some ways you can acknowledge his name?
Talk about how everything we have, and everything we can do, is from God. Brainstorm some things you can offer thanksgiving to God for.

- Colored Cardstock (Fall Tones)
- White Cardstock
- Pencil
- Permanent Markers
- Scissors
- Glue
- Twine
Creating Your Fall Leaf Garland
1) Print your fall leaf templates.

2) Prepare your gratitude leaves.

Have your kids write what they are thankful for on each white leaf. Glue each one to the matching large colored leaf. Create as many leaves as your family would like!
3) Prepare your smaller colored leaves.
Trace your smaller leaves on fall-colored papers and cut them out. You can cut as many leaves as you’d like.
Use permanent markers to create veins on each leaf.
4) Create your fall leaf garland.
As shown, place a small amount of glue on the back side of the top of the leaf. Place the twine over the tab at the top of the leaf and fold it over, pressing the tab into the glue. Repeat this step for each leaf, leaving room for the gratitude leaves.
5) Display your child’s Thanksgiving gratitude craft.
Glue your child’s gratitude leaves to the leaf garland, as shown.
Display your gratitude garland somewhere your children will see it often, and use it as a prayer prompt to give thanks to our great God!
