It can be so easy to think, as Christians, that if we obey God perfectly and we never, ever sin, God will be pleased with us. It can be even easier to accidentally communicate to our kids this kind of high-handed moralism.
Yet, our God wants a relationship with his people. He demands our gratitude, our dependence, and our sincere love of him.
I love Psalm 50:10-15 because God tells us what he desires from us.
This fun craft will help your kids learn more about who God is and what he wants from your child–straight from God’s Word.
Everything Belongs to God Bible Verse
Psalm 50 is a judgment psalm. God is communicating to his people that he is mighty, and his righteousness is declared by the heavens. The Israelites are worshiping God functionally, offering all the right sacrifices. Yet, they are not worshiping him with their hearts.
Before beginning your craft, read Psalm 50:10-15 with your children.
In Psalm 50:10-15, ESV, God says:
“For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the hills,
and all that moves in the field is mine.“If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for the world and its fullness are mine.
Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Talk about:
- What belongs to God? Why? (Read Genesis chapter 1, if you’d like, as a reminder.)
- What does God need from us?
- What do we need from God?
- How does God want us to approach him? What should our attitude be?
- What does God promise to those who come to him humbly in their time of need?
- Can you think of a time when you have worshiped God in all the “right” ways, but your heart wasn’t involved? How can you change that?
Psalm 50:10-11 reminds us that all the beasts of the forest (like the hedgehogs!), all the cattle and birds of the field, and all that moves belongs to the Lord. Verses 14-15 tell us to offer God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and to call on God for help. Your kids can copy both sets of verses with this fun craft.

Creating Your Everything Belongs to God Craft
1) Print and cut out the template pieces.
Print the template pages from step-by-step instructions and cut out the pieces.
Trace the pieces onto colored cardstock, as shown, and cut them out. Choose the appropriate line width for your child (early or developed writer), and cut out the cards around the outer black line.
2) Assemble Your Hedgehog.
Trace your child’s hands onto brown cardstock and cut it out. There are hand templates in the instructions, if you prefer to use those.
Glue the handprints together, with the thumbs out and the inner sides of the handprints slightly overlapping, as shown.
Glue the body of the hedgehog onto the center of the handprints, as shown.
Glue an ear on each upper side of the hedgehog head. Fold a strip of cardstock to make a small three-dimensional square. Glue the ends of the strip together, then glue the strip to the middle of the hedgehog head.
Glue the oval muzzle to the three-dimensional strip in the middle of the hedgehog head.
Glue the inside of the ears to the outer ears, and the black nose to the upper center of the muzzle, as shown.
Glue googly eyes to your hedgehog’s face to finish the little creature.
3) Assemble Your Copywork Card.
Glue the hedgehog over the rectangle on the copywork card in the line width of your choice.
4) Copy Your Verse and Display Your Cards.
Have your child copy Psalm 50:10-11 onto the copywork card. If you’d like, have them copy Psalm 50:14-15 onto the second card. You may want to have them do that in a second session.
Display your Psalm 50 copywork card craft as a reminder that everything belongs to God. We cannot offer God anything he needs. God doesn’t need anything from us! Instead, we offer to him our thanksgiving and call on him in times of need.
