As a mom, I’ve found that life often comes at me fast. It also comes at me in new and interesting ways I never could have predicted. In fact, sometimes I have no idea what to do.
Do you ever feel that way?
We know that God’s guidance for life is in Scripture. That’s where we learn about who God is, about sin and salvation through Christ, and about biblical principles we must live our lives by.
But, when life gets weird, or your and your husband need to make a job decision, or your child is looking to push boundaries you aren’t sure should be pushable–what then? Do you ever struggle to apply God’s Word to your specific situation?
Scripture tells us that when we don’t know what to do, we ought to pray and seek God’s guidance. (See James 1:5.)

Prayers for God’s Guidance
The Bible is full of Bible verses telling us how and when to pray. Scripture is also packed with story’s of God’s people praying–and of God’s answers.
In Psalm 25, King David wrote a prayer for the community of Israel to pray to God. Verses 4-5 ask God for his wisdom and guidance.
Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.” – Psalm 25:4-5, ESV
We can pray and ask God to help us to know his ways–his character and the principles by which he expects us to live. We should ask God, too, to lead us in his truth, in the paths he wants us to travel. When we ask God to teach us, we are asking him to help us learn his Word and apply it to our lives.
We pray to God, asking for guidance and wisdom, and we wait for his answer all the day long. Praise the Lord that he leads us and guides us, giving us both knowledge and wisdom.
