Kids Ministry
Being a Sunday School teacher, a Bible club leader, or a KidMin leader is hard work! Even so, it’s work that can make an eternal impact.
As Bible teachers for your church, you have kids maybe an hour or two each week. That time is important and wonderful. Ten or twenty minutes of teaching time once or twice a week is a great way to introduce children to biblical stories, concepts, and life application.
It’s an especially fabulous time to share the gospel with kids.
If you ever find yourself in need of a few extra-special materials, this is the post for you!
To help you with your lessons, Thinking Kids Press offers Bible crafts and activities. And, to help the parents of the kids you serve, I have a few resources you’ll definitely want to slip into those take-home bags!

Children’s Ministry Resources to Send Home with Parents
For their time at home, there are tools available to send home with your kids that will help them create a faithful Bible study practice.
1) Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible (Bethany House)
I wrote Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible from Bethany House to help the parents in your congregation faithfully disciple their children. The book has been a popular choice for kidmin leaders to give to parents at dedications, for Mother’s Day and Christmas, and to put on the resource table in the foyer! I’ve had several pastors let me know they gave a copy to every parent in their church. What an impactful gift!
2) Bible Investigators: Creation (The Good Book Company)
Bible Investigators: Creation from The Good Book Company is a great resource for 8-12 year olds which helps them learn the inductive Bible study method and the doctrine of Creation while they work through a fun, puzzle-based Bible study! The kids in your congregation will LOVE receiving their own copy to work through.
3) Family Discipleship Tools
Looking for impactful tools to put in the take home bags? The families in your church will love the memory card sets, The 5 Solas family Bible study, devotional banners, and Bible study lapbooks.
4) Spiritual Disciplines Calendar
Send home the Spiritual Disciplines Calendar which allows kids to color in three pictures each day of the month as they read the Bible, pray, and memorize a verse. With creative illustrations on each month, and new pictures to color each day, the children in your church will be excited to use their new calendar.
5) Daily Devotions Bible Verse Calendar
Families will love the Daily Devotions Bible Verse Calendar. which gives families a focus for each of the 12 months of the year—like Jesus, Salvation, and the Church. Families simply read several verses on the focus for the day on the topic of the month.

Three days on teaching the Bible to kids–free conference!
You know it is so important to do everything we do with excellence. I mean, we are commanded to do so! Just look in Colossians 1:10, “…so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God…”
Just as Paul prays for the Colossians to be filled with knowledge of God’s will and spiritual wisdom and understanding, it is right that we should be praying these things for each other.
As someone who teaches kids–in your home and perhaps outside of it, you have to explain biblical concepts in ways that point them to Jesus with clarity and excellence.
I want to offer a FREE resource to help you with this task. Bible Creative Online Conference is February 21-23 from 9:45 am – 2:15 pm (EST).
It’s free and online, so you can participate at home! In your sweats, coffee in hand.
By joining me at this FREE conference, you will get:
- Over 30 speakers who are passionate about helping you become a better Bible teacher
- Opportunity for live coaching from creatives who have a great desire to equip you to share about the hope found in Jesus

- AND….a chance to hang out with me!

Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible
You want your kids to learn and love the Bible.
You want to teach the Bible…
As parents, we deeply desire the best for our kids. We look for the right schools, we make them eat right and exercise, and we get them involved in extracurricular activities. We take our job as parents seriously.
But are we also putting our time and energy into
teaching them the Bible? Giving them the life-changing, soul-nourishing words of Scripture is not only doable, it’s an essential part of parenting kids for Jesus. And the good news is, studying God’s Word as a family doesn’t have to be difficult!
2 Timothy 2:15, ESV, says:
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Our job, as parents who love Jesus, is to help our kids become approved workers, unashamed and rightly handling the word of truth.
The good news? Teaching the Bible isn’t hard. Your family can learn the Bible together.
…and you can!
