When we create new works, we like to make sure we’re just concentrating on what we’re doing while we work. But when we’re listening to read-alouds, podcasts, and sermons, or when we want to listen to music and relax, my teen boys and I tend to pick up a coloring book.
We do NOT regard coloring as a meditative activity, nor do we use them in the place of Bible study. Rather, it’s something creative and relaxing that can be done in a short(ish) period of time.

We read a lot of books aloud in our home (we’re currently reading John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress). My boys really enjoy coloring in history coloring books as I’m reading. Coloring Scripture verses is a great way to think about God’s Word while listening to an audiobook!
Bible verse coloring books need to be high-quality. The paper needs to be think and able to hold watercolor, which is my preferred method of coloring.
You and your teens will love these young adult coloring books from Bethany House.
These are all great gifts not only for your teens (some are great for boys–really!), but also for your mom friends, and for yourself.
Scripture Coloring for Teens (and their moms!)
Near the bottom of the post, I’ll like to a bunch of really great adult Bible coloring books from Bethany House. Check out four — and how you can use them!

1 ) Creative Moments of Grace by Gayla Irwin

2) Pocketful of Promises by Margaret Feinberg

3) The Glory of the Messiah by Susan Perlman and Shelley Skoropinski

4) Words of Grace by Jacqui Grace and Dee Arrand

Young Adult Coloring Books from Bethany House
Bethany House has more lovely adult coloring books for teens. I love the books by Margaret Feinberg, as they have journal pages opposite the Bible verse coloring pages so you can write out the entire passage or journal your own thoughts. The Glory of the Messiah is a will help teens (or you!) learn ways that Jesus fulfilled individual prophecies about the Messiah. The illustrations lend themselves to a masculine audience, making The Glory of the Messiah perfect for teen boys yet enjoyable for teen girls. I expect that All Things Bright and Beautiful and God’s Amazing Love will also be suitable for both boys and girls.

My Favorite Coloring Tools for Teens (& Their Moms)
Half the fun of coloring and painting is the supplies, right? I’m going to point you to my favorites.
Artist’s Loft Fundamentals Pearlescent Watercolor Pan Set

- Artist’s Loft Pearlescent Watercolor Pan Set – These are awesome. They’re student-grade watercolors, but they spread nicely and cover well if you want them to. But that’s not what I love about them. I love them because they’re lightly sparkly. Honestly, the sparkle makes me happy, so I figured it would make you happy too.
- 10 Piece Nylon Hair Brush Set – To use watercolors with a coloring book you need a variety of brush tip sizes, and these work nicely.
- Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils – Prismacolor Colored Pencils are excellent, and worth trying out. They come in different sized packs.
- Prismacolor Premier Pencil Sharpener – If you use Prismacolor colored pencils, they’ll need to be sharpened. This sharpener has great reviews.
- Uni-Ball 207 Medium Gel Pens – These are my favorite pens to journal with. They write smoothly–they don’t smear or drag. I also really like the width of the tip. The multi-color pack has lovely, bright shades.

60 Scriptures You Can Pray

The Bible is full of prayer that you can pray too!
How do you pray when you don’t know what to say? The Bible holds the answer.
God doesn’t expect us to pray without guidance. In fact, Scripture is full of examples of ordinary people approaching our extraordinary God in prayer.
Award-winning author Danika Cooley believes that praying God’s Word teaches us how to best communicate with our Lord:
“There are so many lessons we can learn from Scripture about how to approach God and what to expect when we do.”
Danika’s devotional 60 Scriptures You Can Pray covers eight types of prayer from the Bible, the expectations we should have when we pray, and the right heart attitude for prayer.

- Praise | We adore God for who he is.
- Thanksgiving | We thank God for all he has done.
- Confession | We admit our sin to the God who saves us.
- Supplication | We humbly ask God to provide for our needs.
- Intercession | We ask God to meet the needs of others.
- Deliverance | We cry out to God for help in times of trouble.
- Lament | We bring our sorrow to God, our comforter.
- Guidance | We ask for God’s help in determining his will for our lives.
When you read 60 Scriptures You Can Pray, you will:
- Develop a habit of praying daily over a two-month period
- Learn more about prayer in Scripture
- Understand eight different types of prayer
- Expand your understanding of how to pray biblically
- Become better acquainted with God, His Word, and why we pray
Packed with thoughtful explanations of biblical prayer and practical application in each devotion, 60 Scriptures You Can Pray is the tool you need to learn more about prayer–straight from God’s Word.
