I love family devotionals.
Acts 8:26-40 tells us the story of Philip the deacon sharing the gospel with the Ethiopian treasurer. Luke writes:
So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (Verses 30-31, ESV)
This truth is the same for our kids. How can they understand what they are reading unless someone guides them? Devotionals offer wonderful guidance sometimes. My favorite thing about family devotionals is that they are open-and-go, yet they give us the opportunity to experience God’s Word with our kids. We are able to discuss truth, application, and the gospel with our children as they learn.
