In Romans 12:12, Paul tells us:
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Do you ever wonder how to apply that directive to your life?
Being constant in prayer, what should we say? How should we pray?
God’s Word gives us the answer.

What Does the Bible Say About Prayer?
The Bible has a lot to say about prayer, like Romans 12:12, which tells us to be constant in prayer.
Take a look at more Scriptural advice, wisdom, and commands on prayer (all in ESV):
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalm 145:18)
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2)
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
In addition to biblical directives on prayer, there are also many stories of people in Scripture who pray to the God of the universe. Wonderfully, God has recorded these prayers for us to read. We get to “overhear” their prayers, and we are able to see how God answers them. You can learn much from the prayers of faithful believers in the Bible. In fact, you can even pattern your own prayers after the prayers of God’s people in the Bible.
You can even apply scriptural wisdom from the prayers of believers in the Bible to your own prayer life!
