Does family Bible study seem too complicated to make happen? Invest time and energy in family Bible study lessons you’ll actually do.

Family Bible time can seem challenging, right? Sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking the Bible is too big, too hard, or too edgy for our kids.
The Bible is for kids. Our children need God’s Word.
In Matthew 7:24-25, ESV, Jesus says:
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
We want to give our kids a foundation on rock, not one on sand. God is our Rock, our Fortress, and our Deliverer. We want our kids to know they can take refuge in him. (Psalm 18:2)
Bible study lessons that are already laid out for you can be helpful, and they can be fun, but they aren’t necessary.
You can take your kids through the Bible–together, as a family.

Family Bible Study Lessons You’ll Actually Do
In the video below, I talk about four ways to do Bible lessons with kids that are fun and memorable.
God built our kids for story–they understand stories and enjoy them. Then, he wrote us a story (with lots of smaller stories inside) about who he is, why we need a Savior, his plan for salvation, and how we should live for Jesus.
A guide for family Bible study lessons, like my at-home Bible curriculum Bible Road Trip™, can be a great tool to use, especially in your homeschool. That kind of tool can really help you delve into Scripture together and make important connections.
For family time in God’s Word, though, we can help our kids become accustomed to reading the Bible, discussing what the text says and how it relates to other parts of the Bible, and relaying what they’ve heard. We can spend just a few minutes each day, too, committing God’s Word to memory. My book, Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible, can help.
Reading and studying the Bible with your kids is not only doable–it can also be fun.

Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible

You want your kids to learn and love the Bible.
You want to teach the Bible…
As parents, we deeply desire the best for our kids. We look for the right schools, we make them eat right and exercise, and we get them involved in extracurricular activities. We take our job as parents seriously.
But are we also putting our time and energy into
teaching them the Bible? Giving them the life-changing, soul-nourishing words of Scripture is not only doable, it’s an essential part of parenting kids for Jesus. And the good news is, studying God’s Word as a family doesn’t have to be difficult!
2 Timothy 2:15, ESV, says:
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Our job, as parents who love Jesus, is to help our kids become approved workers, unashamed and rightly handling the word of truth.
The good news? Teaching the Bible isn’t hard. Your family can learn the Bible together.
…and you can!
