This easy 10 plagues wheel craft will help children remember God’s amazing works for the benefit of his people and for his glory.
10 Plagues of Egypt Craft
One of the amazing aspects of the story of the Exodus in Scripture is that through their rescue and journey, God teaches his people who he is and how to worship him.
The story of the 10 plagues of the Exodus is found in the book of Exodus chapters 7-12. The story begins with the calling of God’s prophet Moses. Moses addresses the Pharaoh of Egypt, telling him to let God’s people go. Over and over, the hard-hearted Pharaoh refuses, even while God brings plagues upon the Pharaoh and the Egyptians. As he brings the plagues, God teaches both the Egyptians and his people that the Egyptian idols are dead and useless, while God is powerful, sovereign, and our Savior.
This fun craft will allow your kids to construct a wheel of the ten plagues of the Exodus.
Why Did the Exodus Happen?
Learn all about God’s character through a major event in the history of Israel: the Exodus. God’s people had been in slavery in Egypt for hundreds of years. But God had promised their ancestors that the people of Israel would have their own land someday. So, they cried out to God and he heard them and rescued them. He used a shepherd and his brother to lead a nation of slaves in opposition to the most powerful ruler of the world’s most powerful kingdom.

What happened next was not a battle between Moses and Pharaoh. Nor was it a battle between the Israelite God and the gods of the Pharaohs. It was not a battle at all, but a punishment from the Creator of the Universe in the form of ten plagues–diseases or judgments.

10 Plagues of Egypt | Instructions
Your child’s wheel of the 10 plagues of Egypt is a great way to help them reenact what they learn as they read Why Did the Exodus Happen? from the Who What Why series!
1) Print your templates.
Print your templates on white cardstock. Cut out the circle around the figures and trace it onto a piece of colored cardstock. Print the labeled outer wheel on lightly colored cardstock in a coordinating color. Cut out the templates for each figure.
2) Assemble your 10 plagues of the Exodus.
Trace the templates on pieces of cardstock in the colors desired and cut out the pieces.
Observe the photographs of the finished figures in these instructions. You will want to layer your pieces together to create each day’s wedge of the 10 plagues wheel.
Use permanent markers to outline the red water for the Nile, and the frog. Give the frog a face, as shown.
Glue wings to both the gnats and the flies. Use permanent markers to outline the wings and to give faces to each creature.
Glue the nose to the cow muzzle and glue it to the body of the cow. Use permanent markers to give the cow little x-eyes, nostrils, and to color in the tail and hooves.
Glue a white tunic to the Egyptian. Use permanent markers to color in the man’s hair. Then, draw polka dots on his body to create boils.
Use a permanent marker to outline the top of the tree. Glue the trunk over the leaves. When you glue your tree to the wedge for day 7, it will be upended by the hail.
Use permanent markers to outline the locust. When you glue it to day 8, you will use permanent marker to draw the legs and antennae.
Use permanent markers to decorate the Egyptian coffin, as shown.
3) Assemble your 10 plagues wheel craft.
Use the wedge piece to draw 10 wedges on the wheel base. Trace the wedge onto a black piece of cardstock and cut it out for day 9, the plague of darkness.
Glue each day’s plague onto a new slice of the wheel in the following order:
- Water turned to blood
- Frogs
- Gnats
- Flies
- Dead livestock
- Boils
- Hail
- Locusts
- Darkness
- Death of the firstborn
See the finished wheel below.
4) Complete your 10 plagues wheel.
Once you have glued the 10 plagues to the wheel, glue the wheel to your labeled base. Be sure to align each plague with the correctly labeled day.
Display your wheel as you read Why Did the Exodus Happen? to help your kids remember the order and content of God’s ten plagues!

Christian Biographies for Kids | Christian History for Kids | Theology for Kids
Christian History Matters for Our Kids.
History matters. Now, more than ever, we see how important it is for our children to know and understand history and the Bible.
Here’s why:
- God is the sovereign ruler of all things. It’s important for our kids to see his hand in the history of nations and in the lives of both peasants and kings.
- Christian history is the story of our family history. Our kids get to see how people who love Jesus follow him.
- Understanding history can help our kids learn historic and biblical theology. They learn what the Bible says and what that means for us. They also see when the study of Scripture has taken important turns that have changed the Church.
- Reading Christian biographies and history can be a wonderful way for kids to think outside their own time and culture. God’s Church spans centuries and includes people from every nation.
- Christian biographies help kids consider their own faith, walk with Jesus, and the impact their witness may one day have on others–and on history.
