The Bible author wants to remind you that nothing just magically appears. Everything has a creator.
For instance, have you ever been walking along, picking up acorns and leaves when—BOOM—a house just appears right in front of you? First of all, you’d probably be really glad you didn’t get squished by the mysteriously appearing house. But next, you’d wonder where that house came from. Who made it? How did it get there?
We all know that houses don’t appear out of nowhere. Houses are planned, designed, and built. In fact, building a house takes a really long time. Right?

Bible Investigators | Reviews
“Bible Investigators: Creation – Puzzles and Activities for Independent Learning is the most innovative Bible course for ages eight to twelve I’ve seen in years. The lessons draw children into Bible study using all sorts of puzzles, drawing and writing activities, Bible reading, analysis of Bible passages, discussion, and personal application. While the puzzles are likely to first catch the attention of students, the course offers an in-depth investigation of foundational truths in scripture.” – Cathy Duffy, Cathy Duffy Reviews
“Awesome! My kids and I were extremely impressed with this activity book! It’s hefty, thorough, and deeply engaging. …The introduction does a great job of encouraging children to become bible investigators. It describes what an investigator is and why it is important. At two hundred fifty nine pages, there are such a variety of puzzles and activities that it’d be hard to get bored. … This book is absolutely wonderful. It teaches so many different life skills for young children, including the importance of digging into Scripture, learning about our Holy God, and living the life He asks of us. All the puzzles and activities provide engaging enjoyment while learning about our Creator. It’s a great stepping stone for young kids that will help launch them into deeper bible study as they get older…” – Danni B
“Great Resource to for Kids learning to Apply the Bible to their lives | I am always looking for resources for my almost 10-year-old daughter to help her apply the timeless truths of Scripture. While I advocate that the Bible is written for everyone at every age, there are passages and diction that make the Bible hard to digest for young readers. So, when I saw Bible Investigators: Creation as an option for this month’s review, I jumped at the opportunity. From a theological perspective, I felt this book was easy to comprehend, for the most part, for the recommended age range of 8-12… The best part about this resource is Cooley explains the importance of understanding what you believe and being able to share that with others. I would 100% recommend this book as a tool to further enforce biblical principles and help children learn to think for themselves. – Laura
With the book being about creation, I was curious to see if there would be a stance taken on the old earth/young earth viewpoint, but (even though I have my own opinions), I was happy to see that Danika sticks straight to Scripture and doesn’t make any inferences apart from stating what God says in His Word. She touches on many topics that are important for our kids to learn (how God made us and has a purpose for each of us, what that purpose is, God’s design for marriage, etc.) in a way that is perfect and relatable to middle grade kids.
If we want our kids to get to know the Lord, to have a personal relationship with Him, they need to be IN the Word…and not only read it, but really understand what it says and how to apply it to their lives. This is exactly what this book is going to help them learn how to do, in a really different, unique way. I can’t recommend this book enough!” – Sara R.
Kids Learn About Creation Plus How to Read and Interpret the Bible | “You might think an activity book is just for busy work, but nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to Bible Investigators: Creation by Danika Cooley. It is a fun and engaging way for kids to dig deeply into God’s Word while they study the Creation account. As they learn the good detective skills they need to solve the puzzles, they also learn how to read and interpret the Bible. Danika’s book can easily be used by families in Bible time, by homeschoolers, and by church groups. Through a huge variety of word puzzles, logic puzzles, and more, kids can hide God’s Word in their hearts and let it renew and transform them. I highly recommend this wonderful book!” – Bonnie Rose
“My 11-year-old daughter immediately got excited to claim and explore the book. “This is mine, right?” As a Christian mom who wants my kids to personally know and love God and His Word, I love so much about this book for this age group in particular. Danika Cooley invites kids to get hands-on with the Bible, not just on a surface level, but deep. Although the book is titled “Creation” she goes so much deeper into the Word than the first couple of chapters of Genesis. She covers sin, salvation, the Trinity, and so much more. What an incredible and fun resource for Christian families!” – Joy
“An interesting combination of Bible study and activities. With a mix of teaching, open-ended reflective questions, and puzzles/activities it is a unique resource for kids beginning to do their own independent study. My 9 year old particularly enjoyed the idea of being an investigator while working through this book. This book takes an average activity book to the next level adding Biblical knowledge and thinking to the activity.” – Allison
“This is such a creative resource and a fantastic way for kids to learn more about the Bible! It’s perfect for our middle-grade kiddos and getting them started with independent devotions. My boys especially love the puzzles and drawing activities. I am so pleased with what they are learning about Bible study and important doctrines, too! Some of them weren’t quite able to do it independently at first, and that’s ok. The ones on the younger end of the 8-12 range began working through them with some help from us and the resulting discussions were so precious and meaningful! As they get familiar with the style and activities, they are doing more on their own. Thankful to have Bible Investigators available for our family!” – T.M.
“Danika Cooley is one of my favorite Christian authors for older kids’ material. She has knocked it out of the park again with her newest book of puzzles and activities for ages 8-12.” – Joy Wendling, Playfully Faithful Parenting
“My 11 year old is having fun while learning about Creation. A must for every child who loves God and enjoys puzzles and games. Highly recommend.” – Lynda M.
“Scripture Rich, Fun, and Engaging | This book is full of fun and engaging activities that take students deep into the word of God and an understanding of creation. I love that they don’t sacrifice content and substance for fun and fluff but still are able to be engaging through a variety of different activities.” – D.P.
“Fun way to help kids discover biblical truths and learn basic Bible study methods, too! | Wow! I was happily shocked by just how much there is in this “puzzle” book! Don’t let the title fool you… this is no simple activity book. Yes, it includes fun activities like word searches, crosswords, cryptograms, and more to keep kids engaged and interested in the content. But that’s not all! It also includes all kinds of helpful information for kids about creation and the Creator–and it helps them discover and remember valuable biblical truth for themselves. Using the well-known inductive Bible study method, this book turns kids into “Bible investigators” and helps them dig into God’s Word through observation, interpretation, and application. It covers 6 categories related to creation (God created everything, the story of creation, God made me, our creator God, God’s good creation gifts, and God’s great salvation plan). If you want to help kids discover key Bible truths about creation in a fun, engaging way while also equipping them to study the Bible for themselves, then this is the book for you!” – Sarah B.
“Besides studying language arts & math, I make the Bible a major study every single day. Whether it’s simply reading directly from the Scriptures or, using a tool that helps us dive in deeper, we include the most important subject daily! That’s why I love the new resource from Danika for my kids’ independent Bible study!” – Clarissa R. West (Instagram)
“This interactive workbook captures the interests of my children and gets them excited to solve the puzzles and activities using their Bibles. I am so glad Danika made this book available and I believe it is a great way to cultivate a child’s desire to study God’s Word!” – Clarissa R. West
“Gets Children into The Word | The moment this activity book arrived my boys were eager to get started. Now that we have two snow days out of school I am so glad we can fill some of our time digging into this new resource that takes us to Scripture with each activity. This book is filled with Biblical truth about God and His amazing creation. The questions and activities are presented as part of an investigator notebook. How fun!! …This is an incredible resource for kids ages 8-12.” – Beth
“This is a phenomenal resource to teach your kids about Creation in a fun and interactive way. …I LOVE this resource! It is fun, engaging, and biblically sound!” – Katie J. Trent
“I like the actual Bible study. As I went through the study every time you interact with the Bible, Danika teaches important Bible study techniques that will continue throughout their whole life.
- making lists of what God says
- asking questions about the text
- why was this word chosen?
- why was this word capitalized?
- what does that mean in this context?
- look for things we should do
- ask what a metaphorical passage means for actions
There is a lot more in there.” – Ticia Messing, Adventures in a Messy Life
“Fantastic addition to our homeschool | As a parent, watching my 9-year-old dive into “Bible Detective: Fun Puzzles & Cool Facts for Kids” has been an absolute delight. From the moment we cracked open the book, I’ve seen a spark of curiosity light up in their eyes, which has been truly heartwarming to witness. The puzzles have struck the perfect balance for my child—they’re challenging enough to keep her engaged, but not so difficult that she feels discouraged. One feature that has stood out to us is the journaling boxes. My daughter, who isn’t usually one to keep a diary, has taken to writing down her thoughts and reflections. The book’s adaptability has also been a huge plus. We’ve used it in various settings—quiet mornings at home, and, it’s been a lifesaver on long car rides. The link to free downloads has been particularly helpful, allowing us to print off extra puzzles and activities so my share can share the fun with siblings without any fuss. Seeing their excitement to share what she’s learned or to discuss a puzzle she’s solved fills me with joy. It’s not only helped her develop her problem-solving skills but also deepened her interest in the Bible and the world around her in a fun, engaging way. This book has been a fantastic addition to our homeschool, offering educational and spiritual enrichment that aligns perfectly with my daughters interests and developmental stage. It’s been a joy to see her not just enjoy the book, but truly engage with it on multiple levels.” – Wendy A.
“I love the clever way author Danika Cooley draws kids in and guides them through page after page of fun activities that engage not only the mind but the heart. She skillfully introduces advanced vocabulary such as ex nihilo and merism on a level kids can understand but keeps the text fun by creating mental pictures of almost getting squished by a house and an elephant trying to live in a tree!
In addition to helping children process, understand, apply, and explain the Biblical truths God has laid out in his Word to us, this puzzle book helps kids learn to think critically, apply logic, think deeply about they have read, and record their personal thoughts and reflections about God’s Word.” – Bonnie Rose, Write Bonnie Rose

What a fun way to learn about our Creator God, Creation, God’s Gifts to Us, and God’s Great Salvation Plan. Your child will use their entire Bible to look up verses that will speak to them and help them solve their puzzle and activities for the day. ESV Bible is recommended for the puzzles. Wonderful resource, Danika!” – C.V.
“Mrs. Cooley aims to teach kids how to investigate and study the Bible for themselves. Kids gather “clues” from their Bibles, and then are asked to write and apply their knowledge in the many “My Investigator Notebook” blocks located after each text section and after each puzzle. …Along with the fun puzzles, it’s really nice to read Mrs. Cooley’s lesson text since she writes in a really easy-to-understand, conversational tone. She’s gives the kids praise for jobs well done and gives them affirmation for getting things completed.” – Ellen, Homeschooling Highway
“Exciting Connections between Science & Faith | I’m looking forward to incorporating this for my kids in our homeschooling time. We don’t do too many workbooks, but they love when we do. It’s very well-made & full of interesting facts. And I especially love how it all ties back in with the Bible.” – Elaine Willis
“My oldest loves mysteries. From the Inbestigators, to Carmen San Diego she loves the intrigue of looking a little closer for clues. So when I dropped this in her lap, the excitement was very real. This study brings joy and fun to looking a little closer at what scripture has to say, like a detective. It uses games, activities, and fun to engage elementary students in skill-building exercises that will help them read the Bible themselves. This first book focuses on the Creation story as a base for building skills for studying the Bible. I especially like that it focuses on logic and critical thinking skills, something that is so necessary to bring to the text.” – Kayla
“Rare, fun and faithful resource! | Fun, interactive Biblical resources for the middle-school aged is rare, so I was really excited to see this new resource!
My daughter is 7 and a voracious reader, who is beginning to read the Bible for herself (apart from Bible storybooks). We are currently using this new resource as part of our morning time. Each lesson is quite long (probably more suitable for 10-12yos), so we only work through part of the lesson each time. The material is fun and engaging, and with some assistance, she was able to complete a puzzle and work out a Bible verse in one setting. It’s helped her pick up skills to read and interpret the Bible, and we also loved the journalling spaces to write/draw our reflections. This is a wonderful resource to learn from the Word with my daughter this year.
I hope there will be more to come from this Bible investigators series!” – Cindy
