I want to thank Master Books for providing me with a copies of each of the books above in return for my honest reviews.
One of the reasons I started Thinking Kids several years ago was so that I can share great resources with other families who care about quality Christian books, movies, and curriculum. Master Books (and their parent publishing company New Leaf Publishing Group) has long been a press I appreciate. As we’ve used even more Master Books resources this year, I’m increasingly impressed with the quality (glossy pages, amazing graphics, 3-dimensional information), the price, the Christian worldview, and the writing in these resources.
I think it’s important, too, to note that Master Books has a strong commitment to the literal reading of the biblical account of creation and history in Genesis. If you want science and history from a Creationist viewpoint, look no further.
Check out these 6 fabulous Master Books resources I reviewed this year. We loved them all, so I’m doing a recap of each. At the bottom of this post, I’m also including links to the other excellent Master Books resources we’re using this year.

We’ve been studying Koine Greek for about 3 years now. That made It’s Not Greek to Me a resource that is right up our alley. The boys find Todd Friel funny and engaging and spend a lot of their viewing time laughing. They spend time after classes mimicking Mr. Friel’s jokes. I love that the DVD gives an overview of the language without killing all the details. This program won’t make your child a Greek scholar, but they should have a good hold on the language by the end. I highly recommend using the accompanying Parent Lesson Planner.

It’s hard to explain how much I love this book. It’s an interactive picture book aimed at older children, detailing the flood tales from cultures all over the world that bear witness to the historical truth of the biblical account. There’s science and archaeology involved as well. This was probably my favorite Master Book this year. My boys were fascinated (they’re in 5th and 6th grade).

This history curriculum is aimed at middle school-aged students. There are 34 chapters with 5 short readings each chapter. That way, it can be used 5 days a week for a 34-week school year. We’ve incorporated this into our history curriculum and I appreciate especially the thought-inspiring discussions question at the end of each reading. I have my children write their answers as practice in essay answers.

This addition to the Wonders of Creation series is both beautiful and fascinating. It can be used as curriculum or as a multi-level read-aloud, but I love just allowing my children to explore and read this wonderful non-fiction text. I look forward to collecting the series.

I love this book! It’s gorgeous, fascinating, and everything a bug-loving reader could desire in a book about insects. The insects are divided into chapters by traits they possess. My bug lover didn’t put this book down until he’d read the entire thing.

This is a wonderful devotional-style book with one animal per page. Each page has an animal from the Bible, a section of text explaining the animal’s biblical role and the traits, a Bible verse including the animal, and a beautiful watercolor of each creature by Lloyd R. Hight. This is a neat way to introduce children to animals in the Bible.

Well, friends, those are the books and curriculum I reviewed as a part of the Moms of Master Books team. I really enjoyed all of them and feel blessed to have them as a part of our home library. Below is a list of other MB resources we’re using this year in our homeschool. I’m definitely a fan of Master Books!
