Hello, friends! I want to let you know about some changes to the Bible Road Trip curriculum. Like all literature-based curricula, Bible Road Trip is subject to change a bit when resources change with updated editions, books going print, or better-suited resources becoming available.
The new books are fabulous, so this is exciting!
For 2016, there are four book changes. I want to let you know what they are, and tell you how the change will be handled, so that you can best deal with the changes. Please note, these changes do not impact the notebooking pages in any way. These changes only affect the curriculum. You can read the information below, and you can also listen to me explain it myself in the video below.
Lower & Upper Grammar (Grades 1-6) “Researching the Word” Resource Change
Gospel Light has gone out of business. This means that What the Bible is All About for Kids and Reproducible Maps, Charts, TimeLines & Illustrations are no longer available. We’re going to be using a fabulous resource from Christian Focus 4 Kids: 66 Books One Story. Christian Focus resources are theologically solid, and this is a great book!

Upper Grammar (Grades 4-6) “Learning More About the Word” Resource Change
Fortress Press has updated Tim Dowley’s classic Bible atlas. The maps are updated (with better technology comes better maps!), and they’ve added in great photos. It’s a nice update, but the map references aren’t substantially different. You should be able to use the curriculum easily with either version.
Dialectic & Rhetoric (Grades 7-12) “Praying About the Word” Resource Change
I am so excited about this new resource from Operation World. Pray for the World is shorter (331 pages versus Operation World‘s 978 pages), and so much easier to use for middle and high school students. It will reduce their reading load without substantially changing the information they are obtaining for prayer purposes. The countries will all be scheduled the same way, but the page numbers will change.
Rhetoric (Grades 10-12) “Researching the Word” Resource Change
For high school students, you’ll find a newly available, updated version of Encountering the Old Testament. If you can, I’d recommend getting the updated version, as scholarship and archaeological findings change over time, and new arguments against the Bible need to be addressed.

How the Changes Will be Handled (Please Read!)
I am updated the PDF files for the book changes one at a time. I will upload these new files beginning January 1, 2016. I will not be retaining the original files. Friends, it’s expensive to host these files, and I have thousands of pages of Thinking Kids material available for you. I will be completely replacing the original files. Thank you for understanding that there won’t be any exceptions to this, as there are thousands of Bible Road Trip users and only one of me.
Do you already have the original resources?
If you already have the original books (on the left-hand side of the picture below), and you would like to download the curriculum using those books, you’ll need to do that as soon as possible. I will replace the curriculum in this order: Year Three (weekly downloads or purchase), Year One (weekly downloads or purchase), and last, Year Two (weekly downloads or purchase). So, begin by downloading or purchasing the Year Three pages.
Alternately, you can purchase the new resources, and not worry about the curriculum changes.
Have you (or do you plan to) purchased the new resources?
I will replace the downloads as quickly as I can, again, beginning January 1, 2016. Please be patient with me, as I write for publishers, magazines, and homeschool. Uploads will probably happen in batches.
Have you purchased the curriculum? Do you want a copy with the updated books?
If you have purchased curriculum and would like an updated edition, please send me an email at Danika (at) DanikaCooley (dot) com with “Bible Road Trip Update” in the subject line. I will need to know the year(s) you need an update for, your full name, your PayPal email address. Once the curriculum is completely updated and I have verified your purchase, I will email you a new encrypted link.
This is going to be great!
Don’t panic ~ If you don’t get everything you need from the original version of the curriculum downloaded, you should be able to figure out your reading material from the subject lines, though the page numbers will be different. If you have already purchased the new books, you should also be able to figure out the reading selections in the interim while I am updating the curriculum.
Please leave a comment below if you have any questions. Thanks, friends!
