Are you looking for a deeper understanding of how you can incorporate the gospel into your parenting? Is parenting a frustration for you? Are you fabulously gifted in the area of parenting biblically and you’re looking for a way to mentor others?
Friends, I have just the opportunity for you!
Beginning May 1st, 2015, a group of friends and I will be hosting a book study based on the popular Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus (Crossway, 2011) by Elyse M. Fitzpatrick and Jessica Thompson…..
Give Them Grace has earned itself an amazing 4 1/2 stars out of 198 reviews on Amazon. The book also has endorsement from a number of pastors. Here’s just a few (from Amazon):
“So many Christian parents fall into the trap of asking the law to do in the hearts of their children what only grace can accomplish. Armed with threats, manipulation, and guilt, they attempt to create change that only the cross of Jesus Christ makes possible. It is so encouraging to read a parenting book that points parents to the grace of the cross and shows them how to be instruments of that grace in the lives of their children.”
—Paul David Tripp, President, Paul Tripp Ministries; author, What Did You Expect? Redeeming the Realities of Marriage
“In our human attempts to raise good and godly kids, we often forget that God extended his best grace to us. We are not full of grace on our own; we desperately need his grace. Elyse Fitzpatrick and her daughter, Jessica, provide a great tool to guide parents down the road of gracious parenting. I commend it to you.”
—James MacDonald, Pastor, Harvest Bible Chapel, Rolling Meadows, Illinois; author, Vertical Church
“Elyse Fitzpatrick continues her never-ending quest to churn out grace-filled, Christ-centered, gospel-saturated books. And now she’s done it again with her daughter, Jessica, coauthoring this excellent parenting book! If you are a parent, get online and order your copy of Give Them Grace today!”
—Deepak Reju, Associate Pastor, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, Washington, DC; President, Board of Directors, Biblical Counseling Coalition
Above is the schedule we’ll be following for the discussion. We’ll be moving at the rate of a chapter a week ~ we want to give everyone time to really think through each point made and to explore each chapter with some good discussion. We’re starting in just over two weeks, so you have plenty of time to order a copy of the book or to download it to your Kindle app.
I’ll be posting my thoughts on the blog a few times throughout the course of the study, but for a complete discussion, you’ll want to join us over at the Family Discipleship group on Facebook!
The Family Discipleship Community has admins from six blogs committed to family discipleship (in no particular order): Me (surprise!), Tauna from Proverbial Homemaker, Amanda – owner of Kids in the Word, Ticia from Adventures in Mommydom, Anne Marie of Future Flying Saucers, and Joyice from Raising Boys Homeschool.
I look forward to some great discussion, friends.
